At this age, my friends are scattered across the life stage spectrum. Some are starting families with a newborn in tow and some are caring for aging parents. Some are struggling with health issues while others have begun grandparenting. In the midst of that, a new business or job might be started or possibly their work is ending as retirement is in sight. The one thing that remains constant - our seasons are ever changing.
The writer of Ecclesiastes says that to every thing there is a season. In each of these stages we can find joy, difficulty, passion and pain. As we yield to Him, God can and will use every season for good. Sometimes we see it and sometimes not yet.
God is leading us to a promised land, a promised eternal life that even now we have been tasked with conquering. This is a picture of our spiritual walk. It takes place mostly in the desert but is pointed to an assured destination, one where His kingdom rules. He has gone before us. He has done the work; we just need to take possession of that which He has given. This new life is one that God cares about. He cares about us. And He is with us through every season. Every. Season.
I just want to remind you, dear brothers and sisters, especially if things are hard right now, that God is with us through all our seasons, even the difficult ones. Sometimes God is apparent. Sometimes He feels hidden or absent. But He promised. He is here. And He watches over us with a protective and caring eye.
Rather, the land you will soon possess is a land of hills and valleys with plenty of rain— a land that the Lord your God cares for. He watches over it through each season of the year! Deuteronomy 11:11-12
