Like the Rising of the Sun

How sure are you the sun will come up tomorrow? I don’t know the future, but I rely on the sunrise. I base my plans and expectations on it without truly giving it a thought.

Do I also order my day with the same unquestioned expectation of God’s faithfulness? His presence is more reliable even than the rising of the sun and yet I sometimes move forward neglecting to factor in His power and grace. I try to do it alone.

As surely as the sun rises, He will appear; He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” Hosea 6:3

We know in reality the sun is always shining. It is our changing position that obscures it each day for a few hours. Or maybe some clouds got in the way. God’s presence and grace are ever present and are revealed with the surety of the rising sun.

One day there will be no more darkness. No shadow of hiding from His glory. The Sun will come and there will be no more night. But for now, when I need a reminder of God’s grace, I can look to His creation and rejoice each morning at His faithfulness.

And there will no longer be any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them. Revelation 22:5
