Power

The power of the spoken word. Of God’s spoken word.

Imagine. Before time, before the world, before anything – God was there in the relationship of trinity. And He spoke. And creation happened.

Genesis 1

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

And God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters".…And it was so.”

And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear“…And it was so

And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation"… And it was so.

 Feel the pattern?

And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night.” … And it was so.

And God said – and He created man and woman - and it was so.

And God said…and it was so.

And God said, and it was so.

The very act of God declaring something makes it so.

That’s power. That’s truth.

It makes me want to connect with that power, that truth. God said it. It is so. I want to claim for my own life what God has said. Do I believe? What has God said. I’m going to go read and be reminded right now…

What truth has God declared that you need to be reminded of today? If He has said it, it is so.

Power. And God said...and it was so. I love this. I love the reminder of who He is, the reminder of the truths in His Word, and what that means for us as his children/image-bearers/creation/chosen instruments. We have that power in us through the Holy Spirit when we do what He tells us to do.

I need that reminder that what He has said, is so. And I don't need to analyze and pretzelize and torture the words into some semblance of what I want it to say (or not say). My tendency is to diminish His words - He said this, but He really just means that...and I make Him smaller.
