What do you want?

The Psalmist said, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”  Psalm 37:4

What does that mean? That if I love God enough He’ll give me anything I want? So then, what happens when I don’t get it? Must be something wrong with me, right? I didn’t do it right – or love enough, or believe enough. If I only believed enough, God would give it to me. That sounds to me as if God is a vending machine. It depends on me getting it right, plugging in the right formula of faith and prayer. What if that wasn’t what the psalmist was talking about at all? What if instead of fulfilling or granting the desires that you have, he actually means that God is going to create in you the desires He is wanting you to pursue?

As we are led by our desires, right desires will focus our attention and energy in the proper direction. God will lead us by the desires that He has given us.

Lord, fill my heart with desires that will lead me closer to You and advance Your kingdom here. And help me passionately pursue the desires You have given me.

I don't always want the right things - but I want to want the right things

The Lord places His desires in the heart of man - those who follow His plan for mankind, according to His Word. Our earnest desires, will in fact, line up with scripture and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Isn't not about us, but, His will, always. God ask Soloman...his request...Soliman ask for wisdom. It's God's desire that we should ask for His wisdom in our lives...Soloman's request was granted unto him, and much more. Thanks for sharing this post. Message very well taken. Blessings to you in all your ways.
