You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3
The world has so much chaos that peace is a much sought state. It is found only in God. In a few Biblical passages, like this one, we see the phrase “perfect peace.” The Hebrew is actually shalom shalom. This is a peace that is not only perfect in its completeness, but it is certain. The doubling of the word confirms that it is assured.
God’s perfect peace is for those who focus their mind on God. It is an internal peace despite circumstance. Trusting in God, training our mind on Him and giving Him all our desires, allows us that cherished shalom. We know God is in control and remind our heart and mind of that. Peace only exists as we trust in Him.
This passage also reminds me that it is God who provides the peace. He keeps me in peace because I trust Him. But it is not me creating the peace. It is God’s work and found only in His Presence.
Lord, keep me in Your perfect peace.
To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. Romans 8:6
