Exodus shows us the instructions for the tabernacle in painstaking detail. While it may be tempting to skim through the blueprints as we read through the Bible, it’s important to consider why God included it.
The tabernacle was where God’s presence would reside when He interacts with His people. He designed every intimate facet, revealing His holiness and character in the process. He chose the size, the type of materials, and where each item was placed. Every color, decoration, flourish and function was planned and purposed.
God built His dwelling space deliberately and carefully. This makes my heart explode. He has laid out the details of His current home – us – with the same care and detail. On Pentecost, He sanctified us so He could move in. Each piece bearing an important detail, carefully prepared to be brought together as a whole. I am one of those pieces – so are you. We are being designed and crafted by the Master for His good work. And He is in every detail.
In Him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit. Ephesians 2:22
