You crown the year with Your bounty, and Your carts overflow with abundance. Psalm 65:11
God created us, and all creation, with rhythms and seasons. Not all are the season of reaping, but God produces a bountiful harvest in due time. We have seasons of planting, of waiting, of protecting, tending, nurturing and yes, of reaping. But the hallmark of God’s provision is His abundance and generosity towards us.
We don’t arrive at a harvest without rain, without work, without days and seasons of darkness. Sometimes the sun shines brighter than others, sometimes the clouds hide His radiance but He is always there.
I have seen God overflow the walls of my life with His generosity and favor, often more evident in the midst of hardship. As I look back over a year or view a season in hindsight, it is easy to recount His faithful care. Yes, I still see the struggles, I’m still reminded of the pain, but it is His care that shines through.
Sometimes I can forget that my current situation will pass as they each do. But God’s Presence becomes a bounty of life for me that outshines the struggle. And ultimately when the season of life ends here, we will receive a crown like no other. And as the Psalmist says, our cart will overflow.
