Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Matthew 5:9
God is creative, powerful, loving and holy. And He is the ultimate Peacemaker, designing a way to reconcile lost and rebellious man back to Himself. As we grow in the character of godliness, peacemaking is one result.
As discussed earlier, true peace may look different than just an absence of conflict. It involves real reconciliation and includes the presence of shalom.
Peacemakers aren’t blessed because they are peacemakers. Rather, because they are blessed, working toward peace is an outflow of their new character. We seek reconciliation among us, we seek to bring justice and healing in our world, and most importantly, we seek to bring others into reconciliation with God. When we work toward true peace, we reflect like no other time the character of God. So much so, we will be seen by others for what we are – children of God.
