The new Webb telescope gives a glimpse of our universe previously unseen by human eyes. The distant galaxies we peer into are but at the fingertips of God. I marvel that God has been enjoying these sights for ages even as they only now come into our awareness. Beyond the stunning visuals, though, is the beauty of its order.
God is a God of order. In fact, creation is so orderly that we can look back and understand to some degree what we are seeing. The idea that we have science at all is because order exists and follows a pattern. As we study creation we find predictability and rules. Science is not the antithesis to faith. It is the result. For if we don’t believe that there are constants, that patterns are the same today as they were yesterday, then there would be no point to the study of our world. But with design and order come the excitement of exploration and the possibility of science.
Science is beautiful evidence of the Creator. I can praise Him at the magnitude of the stars, the detail of the human eye, the orderliness of the ants and the consistency of gravity. Look around and be amazed. God is great! Be reminded that the God that created the galaxies of the universe created you. And He loves you immensely.
The Heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims His handiwork. Psalm 19:1
