Beginnings are exciting times with optimism and anticipation of the good things to come. I loved the first day of school with pages yet to be read, pencils yet to be used and a clean notebook. A new job, a trip, relationship or any turning of a page will hold fresh hopes.
The Jewish New Year is marked with a picture of this hope. Their tradition of dipping apples in honey is a way of saying “may this new year be sweet.”
As the saying goes, we don’t know what the future holds, but we know Who holds the future. Because of our faith in an all-powerful and loving Father, we can approach the unknown with hope and confidence. Whatever is coming ahead, we can experience the sweetness of God’s presence.
When you enjoy something sweet, remember God’s care.
L’Shanah Tovah – have a good and sweet year.
