The Bible is full of instruction on how we, as the body of Christ, should treat each other. They can be called the “one anothers.” An important aspect about these passages is that they are a two way street – they are mutual. In order to fulfill them we need to be in community. Forgiving one another means that I need to receive forgiveness from you even as I forgive you. I need to pray for you but also have you pray for me. One day I need your encouragement and another you need mine. This mutuality requires intimacy, vulnerability and humility. It recognizes that we need each other at a fundamental level. God uses us to help each other grow individually. And through the Spirit He also binds us together as the Church as we practice the “one anothers” – together.
You will see a new category listing that will hold these as we discuss them. Please join us in the conversation and let us challenge one another and lift up one another.
Let's start here: Accept One Another
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had,so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. Romans 15:5-7
