Stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord. Exodus 14:13
Do you ever feel boxed in? When it seems any direction is the wrong one and you don’t know where to turn? The Israelites faced that very dilemma as they ran from Egypt. Behind was an advancing army and before them lay an impassable water mass. Death was in every direction.
The Israelites had nowhere to go and were scared and angry. When they lashed out at Moses, he told them to stand firm. Don’t run; don’t panic, but wait – and watch. Watch what God is going to do.
Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still. Exodus 14:13-14
Some decisions are clear. The right way ahead is difficult and it's a matter of stepping out in faith. But there are other times where every direction truly feels like death. When there is no good direction to turn, stand firm. God uses impossible situations to reveal His power.
I’ve followed God long enough to have witnessed Him bringing deliverance in unimaginable ways. But I’m also weak enough at times to forget that and need to be reminded to stand firm. And sometimes, being overwhelmed, standing firm is all I can do. But God cloaks us in armor, giving us strength and He makes a way; He provides deliverance and salvation.
Stand firm until God tells you to move. Be still and watch. And then see the great things He will do.
Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. Ephesians 6:11
