Change: Now Face to Face

The loss of my dear friend has been profound. We have pursued many adventures together and as time drew near, we talked about this last and greatest journey – one where she would go first. Her ties here were strong, the love of her daughters and the love of life, but she knew she wasn’t in control and had to trust God to care for what she left behind.

We waited together.

There is a change that occurs at death – not just physically but spiritually as well. I got a chance to process some of that as we waited. It was a privilege to be together, offering support and love, but ultimately God is the One holding her hand. As her mind faded, I could speak His words over her but the Holy Spirit inside is the ultimate witness to her spirit of His presence. His use of my voice in her life was being lifted but His was becoming clearer to her. She would no longer see Him through a veil but now face to face.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 1 Corinthians 13:12

I long to hear her voice. What is it like, my friend? What amazing and glorious things await? I will join you some day in His presence, as will all who believe in Him. Until then, I will hold tight here to those you love and remind them of God’s faithfulness.

Dear ones - remember those around you. Speak words of affirmation and encouragement. Point them to Jesus. And rejoice that what we do in part, He will do in whole.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die. John 11:25-26

I know you miss her terribly. I lost a dear friend last year also and I know now he ” knows.” Just like Laura. This is comforting and a little jealous making. Peace to you, friend.

Just saw this. Intriguing picture, beautiful words. So heart-felt. Glad to receive the words: "Speak words of affirmation and encouragement. Point them to Jesus. And rejoice that what we do in part, He will do in whole".
