So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31
The Doxology that we looked at last week is both a reminder and a tool towards fulfilling our purpose; glorifying God. Jesus is the ultimate doxology. He is the Word and His life brought perfect glory to God.
As I seek to be like Jesus, I want my life to glorify God in all I do. I need to remind myself that this is the only goal. I want to be a living doxology. Zoe is Greek for life. Maybe I need to be a doxazoe, a life manifesting the glory of God. That’s not a real word but I think aptly describes my pursuit. And how is that done? By living a life that honors God, that acknowledges His greatness and submits to His authority.
Does my life stand as a clear statement to others of the glory of God? No, but I want it to. And if I remember who I am, who I am called to be, the Spirit will work in and through me to make me a doxazoe.
Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16
Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to Your name give glory,
for the sake of Your steadfast love and Your faithfulness! Psalm 115:1
