Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. Proverbs 19:21
It is wise to plan ahead in order to make good use of all the Lord has given. But only God knows what is coming so we must hold those plans loosely. We need to be able to bend, adjust, or even do a 180, if God moves us in a different direction. If my grip on the steering wheel is too tight and my focus is only toward my own target, I will miss the better turn that God has planned for me.
Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Matthew 6:34
I think I know what’s best. But God’s plans are so much better than I could ever imagine. The more I trust God, the easier it is to let go. My future isn’t riding all on me. I have a loving Father that knows what is best and leads me along the right path. His direction brings us all together as He orchestrates His plan for our good and His glory.
Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. James 4:13-14
Lord, as I make plans, keep me eternally focused and holding loose all things for Your perfect plan to be accomplished. May Your will be done.
