Master Planner

I’m a list person. I like “to do” lists and I get a sense of satisfaction in crossing things off. The lists are tools for me to help plan so that I’m prepared and can manage my time well. We live in a busy world, though, and sometimes the list can be a master instead of a tool.

The Bible shows us that creating pictures and symbols is a good way to remember. God is constantly giving His people physical reminders (standing stonestassels, etc.).

I used to be very particular about writing my lists and calendar updates in pencil. I did this as a way to remind myself that God can erase and adjust my plans. I want His agenda, not mine. As I moved into the tech world, I lost that discipline, and I find myself still needing reminders. My handheld now sports the picture of an eraser as the default photo – so that I can be reminded every time I open a list or calendar.

Lord, as I plan in faith, be the Author of my day.

What are the things you want to remember?

That my important "must get done" things are not necessarily God's important "must get done" things.....
