Whose light

You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. Psalm 18:28

There are so many things I try to do by myself. I exclude God as well as you, the body of Christ. I don’t do it intentionally; I just move forward in my own strength until I am stopped by my inadequacy.

We are told to be a light to the world. But I can’t be light by myself. I must be filled with the Presence of God. He is the light and I am merely a vessel for His glory. Similarly, His Presence dwells in us together, His people. We become the torch that He uses to reveal His glory and beckon others to Himself.

The world is lost in darkness and needs the Light, not my feeble spark but the powerful illumination of Him who loves us. The only way to fulfill that is if we are filled with His Presence, both individually and corporately.

I am compelled to pursue His Presence more intentionally, more passionately. But I also need you. Will you join me? We can learn from one another, encourage one another, and together be the lamp that He fuels to light the world.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16

This is beautiful. Reminds me of two verses: “And the fire upon the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not be allowed to go out…the fire shall be kept burning continually upon the altar; it shall not go out.” Leviticus 6: 12, 13
