The Lord takes pleasure in His people; He adorns the humble with salvation. Psalm 149:4
It is a delight to watch children. Not for any particular merit on their part, but just to be with them and see them at work or play – or even sleeping. God takes just such pleasure in us, His children.
But how do I know that I am counted among His people? Does He find pleasure in me?
We become part of His kingdom, and thus His family, by believing in Jesus and accepting His saving work.
But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God, John 1:12
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:13
We find assurances of our status through His Word. His promises are true. And we begin to see a familial resemblance through growth that come from the Holy Spirit’s work in us. (Important reminder - our growth does not determine our status but rather our position spurs our growth. Wherever we are in that transformation process, He delights in us just because we are His.
As a child basking the happiness of those watching over, I find great joy in knowing that God finds pleasure in me. It compels me to seek His Presence more.
