The Lord takes pleasure in His people; He adorns the humble with salvation. Psalm 149:4
We are told to put on certain things, the armor of God, faith, hope and love. But this passage says that God is going to dress us. In fact, He is going to adorn us, making us more beautiful.
Of note, it is the humble that He makes beautiful; those whose trust is in God and not themselves. They have a right perspective of themselves as a loved creation of the Sovereign and yielded to His authority.
It is by His hand they are made lovely, wrapped in the gift of His saving work. Salvation is a mark of beauty. Those who possess it exhibit confidence in God, a lack of fear and a selflessness that loves others well. It is the hidden beauty of the heart transformed.
I am grateful for His adornment and am reminded to see myself as He sees me. And I want to wear salvation well so the world can see His glorious love for those who are His.
I greatly rejoice in the Lord, I exult in my God; for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation and wrapped me in a robe of righteousness, as a groom wears a turban and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels .Isaiah 61:10
