Alpha and Omega: The End

"I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, “Who is and Who was and Who is to come, the Almighty." Revelation 1:8

Just as God wasn’t AT the beginning but IS the beginning, He won’t be AT the end. He IS the end. He is the ultimate and all encompassing. He not only decides what exists, He also decides what doesn’t. He will remove or finish anything He wills. Being the end means that nothing outlasts Him.

As the beginning and the end, He always is and He is now. Everything from beginning to end is in His sovereignty. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow so I can trust in His never-changing character.

I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “Who is and Who was and Who is to come, the Almighty.

He is also the end of our searching, the end of our wanting. He is the true answer to our need. And when we are fully satisfied, He is still full and remains. He is.

God has promised to make all things new. In the end will be a beginning, a promise of His sustaining love. He chooses to include us in His eternity, yet He is still the end. These thoughts are too deep and wonderful for me. But I am satisfied that He will be at MY end – which, by His grace, will also be a new beginning. Eternal life starts now but will continue in a new way at my end. Thanks be to God.

He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11
