Because He Lives

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die. John 11:25-26

“Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.” That Jesus lives means everything. The old hymns have some great theology and this one has been rolling in my head all weekend.

Because He lives:

Death has been conquered. By the grace of God it has no power over me any longer. The darkness I encounter here won’t last – it has been defeated. Death has lost its sting.

But because Jesus lives forever, He has a permanent priesthood. Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, becauseHhe always lives to intercede for them. Hebrews 7:24-25

I have life now, too. His resurrection is the first and He offers resurrection life to all who belong to him [1]

Knowing that He who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and will present us with you. 2 Corinthians 4:14

I am no longer condemned. The resurrection is the proof of the completeness of the work on the cross. He has paid the penalty for my sin. He has reconciled me to God.

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus Romans 8:1

         He will rule forever.

The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever. Revelation 11:15

I can be with Him.  He gave the Spirit to be with us here. And one day I will see Him face to face.

I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. John 14:3

I can be with loved ones in Christ again. Our separation is only temporary. We, the church, can be together with Him forever.

For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep. 1 Thessalonians 4:14

Jesus is alive. And that means everything.

“And then one day I’ll cross the river,
I’ll fight life’s final war with pain.
And then as death gives way to victory,
I’ll see the lights of glory and I’ll know He lives.”[2]
