Give us today our daily bread. Matthew 6:11
When Jesus taught us to pray, He included our request for daily needs. I would have preferred if He had said “our daily bread – and enough for tomorrow, too."
But He didn’t. The thing is, I think I know what I need tomorrow. But I really don’t. Only God does.
By bringing my request to Him, I am acknowledging my dependence. God is the source of all good things and He promises to provide.
And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
I don’t think that stops at our physical need. He also gives grace, strength, comfort and wisdom at the right time.
I am learning trust for tomorrow because I have experienced His provision for today. He alone knows what I will truly need.
Lord, help me to trust You in giving me today what I need for today and resting in faith for tomorrow.
