Jehovah, the “I AM,” declares that He is the one who heals (rapha).
… for I am the Lord, your Healer. Exodus 15:26
Our bodies experience the chaos of disease and injury. It is a result of the fall and was never meant to be so. But God, who created us, can also heal us. He may intervene as Jesus did, with a touch or a word. Or He may heal through the medical community - the sharp minds and innovative gifts He’s bestowed throughout the generations. We acknowledge that all healing is by His hand. Even when our bodies seemingly heal on their own is a revelation of how magnificently we are designed.
But any physical healing of this body is temporary – just ask Lazarus. Thankfully, for all who believe in Him, we will ultimately experience a new body without disease or corruption. Jehovah-Rapha will heal and we will be restored to what we were made for.
I have loved ones struggling with health issues. We pray that Jehovah-Rapha will remember us and intervene. I don’t understand why some are healed and others not. But however God chooses to answer those prayers for our temporary tents, I am confident that a new and perfect body awaits. Hallelujah!
If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:11
