My Mom

God says to honor your parents so I want to take this week’s space to bring honor to my Mom. I am blessed to have a godly mom but I also recognize others have not been so fortunate.

My mom reflects God in her kindness, patience, mercy, gentleness and generosity. She is selfless, long-suffering and exhibits self-control – except maybe with chocolate. Her life has not always been easy, but what stands out most to me is her gratitude. She has walked faithfully through the decades of her life thanking God daily and seeing His handiwork around her.

It’s easy to honor with my words but honoring also means caring for, obeying and respecting. These all have different applications in the varying seasons of life. It is a joy for today to walk alongside, continuing to learn and being able to provide assistance where needed.

Not everyone has such an easy path to honoring a parent and I want to examine some of what that could mean in another post. But today, I just want to say thank you, Mom. I’m grateful for the care you give me (and so many), the example you are and how God has blessed me through you. I am grateful God gave me you.

Her children rise up and call her blessed. Proverbs 31:28
