For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, 2 Corinthians 2:15
I have come across a few saints that capture me by their quiet strength. Their holy aroma seems stronger by the confident calm that surrounds them.
Derwin Gray said it well:
“The wise, loving, and sovereign God of redemption has always preserved a remnant. Not the loudest. Not the most powerful. But the most faithful. You will recognize them not by their platforms or their certainty, but by their love for God and their love for people. They move through the world with humility instead of arrogance, mercy instead of contempt, courage instead of cruelty. The fragrance of the Beatitudes surrounds them. It lingers. It interrupts you. In a noisy and anxious age, their lives quietly bear witness to the kingdom of God.”
I want to be just such a Christ follower. I want no need for fanfare or megaphones. Just a life that calls attention to Christ and His faithfulness. Let me be closer to that person every day.
Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, … Colossians 3:12
