Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ … 2 Corinthians 5:20
An ambassador is one who represents or speaks for another. How incredible, then, that God would call us His ambassadors. We carry His message. We persuade on His behalf.
… as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:20
He uses us to bring His message of reconciliation to the world. He offers more than a treaty or a tense peace. He says, join me and I will pay your cost of citizenship.
A good ambassador also embodies the values of his home country. What are our kingdom values? Loving our neighbor, grace and mercy.
Implicit in an ambassador’s job is that we engage in foreign territory. We’ve planted an embassy on alien soil, a place not our home. We have other workers by our side, but there is some longing and homesickness that will always be present.
How am I representing Christ today? Am I pleading with others on His behalf for reconciliation with Almighty God? Is the Kingdom being well represented or am I reflecting worldly values or my own interests? I want to be a good and true ambassador of Christ, showing others the character and greatness of our King and Kingdom.
Let His Kingdom reign, where my home and my heart belong.
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 3:20
