His Resurrected Body and Ours

And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by His power. 1 Corinthians 6:14

The resurrection of Jesus is the hope to which we believers all cling. It is the expression of His love, the means of salvation, the offer of reconciliation, the forgiveness of sins, the proof of victory and the promise of eternal life with Him. It is also evidence that God’s physical creation matters.

Jesus rose bodily. He ate, met with people, was seen and could be touched. He was recognizable, at least when He wanted to be. In other words, He had a body that we recognized as a physical form and not some apparition.

This physical world we live in, the bodies we have been given, are all part of God’s creation. Sin has wreaked its havoc on it all, but the resurrection shows that all of God’s creation will be redeemed and restored. We will recognize His unmarred handiwork in this new heaven and earth. We will recognize one another in our bodies as they should have been.

Our world is not just a vehicle to get us to an ethereal future where we float around. it is a gift for us to enjoy and a place where He interacts with us. Even in its fallen state there is much beauty; glimpses of glory. God’s creation will once again be as it was designed to be, more stunning and majestic than we can imagine. And as His pinnacle of creation – how much more will we reflect Him in our promised resurrected state. My loved ones are beautiful but will be more so when are reunited that grand day - our perfected bodies freed from the mar of sin’s effect. I can’t wait. What a great hope we have through our resurrected Lord.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.  1 Peter 1:3:
