The Lord is my Portion

Therefore, Levi does not have a portion or inheritance with his brothers; the Lord is his inheritance, just as the Lord your God spoke to him.  Deuteronomy 10:9

The Levites were chosen by God to serve Him and to bless Him. They were His priests. When Israel made it into the Promised Land, Levi was not given an allotment of land like the other tribes. God said that He Himself would be their portion.

As believers in Jesus, we are now God’s priesthood.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession. 1 Peter 2:9

We don’t have an inheritance in this land among the perishable. And it is not His mercy, His grace, His salvation that is our portion, but actually Almighty God Himself. Every other good gift flows from Him.

He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you. 1 Peter 1:3-4

He is my inheritance! He is my portion! It is not for us to stake out a place to call our own here. We have no territory but Him and His Kingdom. We are here to serve and bless God.

When I have Him, I have everything. His grace, His mercy, His provision, His care – all of that follows. I want to live with the confidence that I have already received my portion. It is enough. It is more than enough - it is everything. He is with me, He was given for me, He sustains and provides and most important – He loves me.

The Lord is my portion, says my soul. Lamentations 3:24

Oh, my heart – look no further and rejoice! I have received everything when I received Him.

Beautifully expressed Jen. The Lord is my portion, more than enough. Reminds me of a song that goes "...all of you is more than enough for all of me, for every thirst and every need, you satisfy me with your love, and all I have in you is more than enough..."
